Teachers in East Moline and school district officials will try again to negotiate a contract. Today, the education association announced it requested another session with a federal mediator, and it's scheduled for next week.
More than two weeks ago, union members approved an intent-to-strike. But Spokeswoman Angela Harrell says their "goal is a fair contract, not a strike."
The East Moline Education Association also says members will meet the day after the negotiation meeting to vote on a contract proposal or strike authorization.
The 260 members of the union include teachers, aides known as para-professionals, and secretaries.
The bargaining session is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15th, one week from today.
