John Deere equipment sold well over the last three months. This morning, the company reported second quarter earnings rose to $1.2 billion or $3.67 per share, compared to $2.50 in the same quarter a year ago.
But without extra income from the new federal tax law, Deere says its second quarter profits would have been lower, at $3.14 per share.
Worldwide sales rose 29% to $10.7 billion from February through April. And the company has raised its full-year earnings projection to $2.3 billion, from $2.1 billion in February.
Sales of agriculture and turf equipment rose 20% in the 2nd quarter, but jumped 84% in the construction and forestry division.
And just a reminder next month, the company will host a big celebration at its tractor and engine museum in Waterloo. "100 Years of the John Deere Tractor" will be held June 15th and 16th.
