Celebrating the Clinton-Augustana Partnership

Augustana College

A year-long partnership between Augustana College and the city of Clinton is ending. Tuesday afternoon, they'll celebrate the success of the first Sustainable Working Landscapes Initiative.

During the past year, more than 300 students, in 20 different classes, worked on a variety of projects for the city. City Administrator Jessica Kinser says one of the projects involved students in accounting.
But since budgeting for the new fiscal year is over, these recommendations will be considered when the 2017-2018 budget is put together.

Kinser says some other Augustana students surveyed Clinton employees - they learned about 90 per cent are satisfied with their jobs, and many would like the city to offer a wellness program.

We haven't had one but employees want a wellness program.

Next fall, students from the college will participate in a similar partnership with Scott County.

The celebration will be held at Eagle Point Lodge in Clinton from 4 to 5:30 pm.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
