Six former athletes will be honored by Augustana College next month. The newest members of the "Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame" will be inducted on October 17th as part of homecoming weekend.
The six excelled in a variety of sports, from the 1960's through the early 2,000's.
Norm Ayer graduated in 1968, and during his years at Augustana earned 11 letters in three sports, football, wrestling, and baseball.
Fred Whiteside set school records in the early 70's in track and field, and was Augustana's first ever All-American in cross country.
Jill Rednour was a key member of the women's basketball team that won the school's first women's conference team title in 1986 and 87.
Darren Linton won four conference titles in wrestling.
Kiersten Madden led the Augustana volleyball team to a conference title in 2002, and the team's only berth in the NCAA tournament.
And in the mid-60's, Mark Schafer was a four-year letter winner in both track and cross country.
