Augustana College Opens New Theater Center with First Production

Augustana College
Design of the new theater space

After almost a year of construction, Augustana College has opened its new theater center to the public. Last night, the theater department performed its first production, "Rabbit Hole," in the new space.

Last fall, construction began on Augustana's College Center on 7th Avenue, across the street from Bergendoff Hall, which previously housed the theater department. The top two floors of the College Center have been transformed into a new main theater, a Black Box theater, and an outdoor performance area.

The $4.2 million Kim and Donna Brunner Theater Center opened last night, with a performance of "Rabbit Hole" by David Lindsay-Abaire. Performances this weekend begin at 7:30 pm, with a Sunday matinee at 1:30.

And, a gala opening for the new theater center will be held Thursday, October 13th. Tickets are $25 and the event will include a performance, tours, food, and refreshments.
