For the first time in over 40 years, a local non-profit will change the location of its biggest fundraiser. Arrowhead Youth and Family Services in Coal Valley has hired the Greater Quad City Auto Auction to run its annual vehicle auction.
Development Director, Mary Davidson, says Arrowhead will pay the auto auction, but the amount will be less than it usually costs to do it in house.
Currently, about 20 Illinois residents receive counseling and attend school at Arrowhead. The non-profit accepts young people from 13- to 21-years-old who help with community events, such as the John Deere Classic and Festival of Trees. The auction helps teach the teenagers several valuable lessons.
In the past, Arrowhead's annual roundup included an auction of many other items. But Davidson says with 100 vehicles to sell, that part of the fundraiser has been dropped.
Registration for the vehicle auction will begin Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with bidding at 10:00 a.m. It will be held at the Greater Quad City Auto Auction on Indian Bluff Road in Milan. Information about the vehicles is online HERE.
