Adler Theatre Dedicates 'Gregory P. Schermer Stage'

WVIK News

The man who spent more than seven years helping renovate the Adler Theatre will be honored tonight. The stage in the downtown Davenport theatre will be named the "Gregory P. Schermer Stage."

Schermer first began working on the stage project in 2005 as chairman of the River Center for the Performing Arts, a non-profit formed to renovate the theatre.

Rick Palmer, executive director of the River Center Adler Theatre, says Schermer dedicated his "time, talent, and treasures" toward keeping the project on time and on budget.

The $14,500,00 project expanded the Adler Theatre stage so it could hold larger productions, and improved the sound and lighting systems.

The stage dedication honoring Schermer will be held tonight at 6:30 at the Adler Theatre. An announcement is also planned about raising money to renovate the marquee.
