Abduction Charges Filed

Whiteside County Sheriff's Office

A Geneseo man has made his first appearance in court following the abduction of a couple from Erie last week. 40  year old Chad Schipper is charged with home invasion and aggravated kidnapping.

According to the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office, it received a 911 call last Wednesday from a bank in Albany about a possible abduction. Early the next morning, deputies located a possible suspect, and after a car chase, the suspect crashed his car in Port Byron.

He was injured and taken to the hospital where he stayed until Sunday when he was transferred to the county jail.

After the crash, Constance and Larry VanOosten from Erie, were located in a home in Geneseo.
During Monday's hearing, bond was continued at 1 million dollars, and a preliminary hearing set for February 27th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
