Latino USA now on WVIK Wednesdays

WVIK Augustana Public Radio added a new program, Latino USA, on Jan. 2, 2013. The show airs on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Latino USA, a radio journal of news and culture, is the only nationally distributed English-language radio program produced from a Latino perspective. It combines high-quality news, cultural and public affairs journalism with compelling sound to bring a rich understanding to a wide spectrum of listeners.

Join a representative from WVIK on a customized tour to London and the countryside next spring. Tour dates are April 30 - May 6, 2014.

Highlights include key historical places, along with theatre and dining experiences.

You will be able to enjoy the charming countryside by tracing the life and landmarks of Jane Austen in Bath and surrounding areas.

• Half-day panoramic sightseeing tour in London with local guide

• Full-day London city tour with local guide including entrances to Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London

WVIK 90.3 FM Augustana Public Radio and River Action are partnering to offer a new program -RiverWayStories - that will debut Saturday, March 2 at 8:34 a.m. during Weekend Edition.

The three-minute on-air essays will cover a broad range of river-related topics, including environmental concerns, conservation efforts, history and recreation.

RiverWayStories is a collaboration between River Action and WVIK and is underwritten by the Singh Group of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Memorabilia wanted for light-hearted retrospective

Don Wooten, the founder of WVIK Public Radio at Augustana College, and considered by many an institution in the Quad Cities community, will receive an honorary doctorate from the college during its graduation ceremonies May 19.
