City of Davenport

Davenport is on its way to becoming a "gig city." This month, officials hired an IT firm to study ways to build a high speed, broadband network throughout the city.

  Unemployment has fallen again in the Quad Cities. New figures from the state of Illinois show the rate fell from 7 per cent in September of last year, to 6.4 per cent last month.

USA Today

One of America's best riverfronts is right here in the Quad Cities. Today, USA Today and announced the winners of this year's contest to choose the "Best American Riverfront," and Davenport finished third.

Construction work has finally started to restore passenger rail service between the Quad Cities and Chicago. That was the announcement today (tuesday) from the Illinois Department of Transportation. 

John Deere

Hundreds of workers at John Deere plants in the Quad Cities will lose their jobs this week. Over 500 Layoffs began today at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline and Deere Seeding and Cylinder in Moline. 


A top federal official hopes to bring more jobs to one of the largest employers in the Quad Cities. Today, Secretary of the Army, John McHugh, toured the Rock Island Arsenal and met with state and local leaders. 


Thousands of students toured Alcoa's Davenport Works today, but not in person. The Alcoa Foundation partnered with Discovery Education to host a virtual field trip called "Manufacture Your Future." 

  People who shop at Jewel, Osco, and Save-a-lot should check their credit card statements carefully. Albertsons and Supervalu report shoppers' credit and debit card data may be at risk.
