Actor Says Blue Collar Workers Are "Essential"

An actor known for playing a postman on the TV show, "Cheers," will remind manufacturers why they are essential. Next week, John Ratzenberger will be the keynote speaker at the first Midwest Manufacturing Business Conference in Bettendorf. Michelle O'Neill reports Ratzenberger also hosted a Travel Channel program called, "Made in America" and wrote a book that honors US workers and their skills.

Galesburg teachers continued to picket today, while their students stayed at home. The union and school board met with a federal mediator for four hours Sunday, but couldn't reach agreement to end the strike.

Tami Qualls, spokeswoman for the Galesburg Education Association, says the union's top priority is to keep veteran teachers from being fired without just cause.
